This painting is part of the ‘Salt’ series:
“The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea” (Isak Dinesen)
My mother passed away in 2012, and part of the process of healing the grief for me has been getting to know the sea. Body-boarding, surfing and just being near or in the water has made me feel alive, and realise that our problems are actually tiny when you picture yourself such a small part of the universe.
This piece was created at Porthcawl as part of the Open Air Paint festival. More about my relationship with the sea here.
