Description
Artist’s description:
One of a series of three portraits inspired by sketches of women in and around South Wales. Drawing on beaches and in cafes, I created artwork based on the sketches, which aim to capture not a realistic representation but an essence of women, and the connection we have with each other. Hair is a major part of these three portraits, important in many cultures for spiritual well-being, health and energy. Wool, leaves, sequins, miniature stars and musical notes give the piece texture, which is overlaid with spraypaint and acrylic.
The ‘light’ in this piece represents our ongoing search for fulfilment and spiritual well-being.
I sign my work ‘Unity’ a name I also use when dancing – unity of self, and my hope for the world around me.
